Graduate Medical Education (GME)

Graduates from medical schools continue their training as residents in residency programs commonly referred to as “GME” (graduate medical education).  As of July 1, 2020, graduates from all US medical schools – osteopathic physicians (DOs) and allopathic physicians (MDs) – train in the same residency programs, accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), as they move closer to independent practice as specialists in primary care or one of the many medical or surgical specialties or subspecialties.

ARCOM’s commitment to the development of new GME programs is unmatched in the state of Arkansas. ARCOM is also working cooperatively with existing residency programs to advance the high-quality educational experiences and work environments for all residents and fellows.
