As a member of the anatomy team, I teach gross anatomy, histology, embryology, & neuroanatomy to our DO & MS students. While I like teaching, I especially enjoy mentoring my students. Our DO students have thrice honored me with Faculty of the Month. My research program focuses on evolutionary anatomy & anatomical variation. As a paleoanthropologist, I was fortunate to be part of the team that described Homo naledi, an extinct human species from South Africa, & continue to research this fascinating hominin. I was also part of the team to describe 1.7-million-year-old fossil specimen SK 7923, a foot bone with osteosarcoma, making it the oldest known case of human cancer.
